The Rowland Hill Fund is a registered charity set up more than 100 years ago as a memorial to Sir Rowland Hill and relies on employee and pensioner contributions to be able to continue to provide support. The Fund was set up with the sole purpose of helping Royal Mail employee, pensioner or their immediate dependants who suffer through age, disability, ill health or other misfortune, and is administered by a Board of Trustees. Trustees come from all walks of life, including serving and former staff.
Their funds are used to help people with mobility problems, respite breaks and home care. Last year the fund helped more than 900 individuals, distributing more than £500,000 in the process. More than 200 of those helped were serving staff.
The fund supports the elderly to stay in control of their lives and to maximise their independence. It also helps others, including serving staff and their families who find themselves in need of practical support. The Fund doesn't work in isolation. Last year it shared solutions with more than 50 external charities, large and small.
